Upper School Evening of the Arts Showcases Student Talent

The event was filled with diverse student artwork and performances. See video from the evening.

This spring, a packed crowd celebrated the annual Upper School “Evening of the Arts,” a favorite event filled with student art, music, design, and poetry, held in the dining hall.

The evening is a showcase for visual arts students, and dozens of pieces of their work were on display throughout the dining hall, including portfolios from AP 2-D and 3-D art students. Students, parents, and faculty viewed the art displays before the show and during intermission and had a chance to ask the artists about their work.

The event is also an opportunity for students to perform in front of a live audience. Seniors Jasmine Armstrong, Matthew Hayes, Matthew Mirliani, and Sarah Pariser served as the hosts for the evening, introducing each act. There were 16 student and faculty performances, either solo or in groups, which included: rock bands, a musical group named “Crashchord” who has songs available on iTunes, a fashion show, solo vocalists, keyboards, and R&B groups (including an original song), just to name a few.

The evening was organized with much help from Upper School Faculty Members Terry deBardelaben, Susan Pollard, and Joe Wenger. Mrs. Pollard praises students for their hard work and preparation. “The Saints community has fabulous and diverse talents, and Evening of the Arts is a wonderful display case for that creative energy.”
