Lower School Academic Departments

Technology Education

The Lower School embraces technology as a powerful tool that provides students with opportunities to invent, collaborate, create, and explore. The school has a 1:1 model, issuing Pads for students in grades JK through fourth and MacBooks for students in fifth grade. Technology skills are taught both through integration with disciplinary units of study and also in technology classes. Focuses include multimedia creation, 3D design and printing, coding and robotics, and digital citizenship. Students build public speaking and multimedia skills by working on a weekly video podcast highlighting the school community. Students may further their interests in technology through participation in after-school clubs or the school’s competitive FIRST Lego League teams. The Lower School strives to teach students to use technology in a positive, productive, safe, and ethical manner.
