Middle School Academic Departments

Physical Education

The program emphasizes the teaching of sport-specific skills as well as more complex strategies in game play. Maximum participation for each student provides an opportunity to experience team competition. The importance of good sportsmanship as well as the development of strength, fitness, and flexibility are stressed. Sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling.

    Meets Five Times a Week
    The sixth grade program provides students an opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, and motivation necessary to become physically active and fit for life. The program is team-sport oriented, emphasizing game rules, skills, and strategies. Students are encouraged to put forth maximum effort and to celebrate personal improvement in a variety of sports.

In each sport, a student is challenged to improve his or her ability regardless of level of play. The program teaches the value of practice, working to one’s full potential.
