Saints Give Thanks at All-School Service

JK-12 students and faculty gathered for this annual special time together.

The entire St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School student and faculty community gathered November 26 for the annual JK-12 Thanksgiving Service in Goodwin Gymnasium at the Upper School. Before the service, Lower and Upper School students spent time together on a service project, writing letters of thanks to members of the military, public safety officers, and adults in the SSSAS community who support our campus operations.

To begin the service, the seniors processed hand-in-hand with the kindergarten students; a special time for our oldest students to bond with the youngest. A highlight of the annual event is when the seniors give the kindergarten students a “guardian angel” pin to wish them well in their years ahead at SSSAS. The service featured scripture lessons, hymns, and prayers, as well as beautiful music from the SSSAS Symphony Orchestra, Upper School Concert Choir, Sextet, Faculty Choir, Gospel Voices, Fifth Grade Choir, and Middle School Chorus.

Students and faculty brought items for our annual food drive, and Head of School Kirsten Adams delivered the homily, encouraging our community to be mindful of the present and thankful for one another. In another moment that brings the entire community together, each grade level and the faculty contribute words of thanks and read them aloud in an all-school Thanksgiving prayer:

Let us give thanks to God for all of the gifts so lovingly given us, saying, We thank you, Lord:

For daddies, mommies, and toys - Junior Kindergarten
For rain, sunny weather, and happy hearts - Kindergarten
For friends, plants, and animals - First Grade
For our soccer, legos, and water - Second Grade
For health, food, and nature  - Third Grade
For shelter, freedom, and dress down days - Fourth Grade
For kindergarten buddies, planet Earth, and love - Fifth Grade
For our hardworking maintenance and transportation staff - Sixth Grade
For all who keep the school running smoothly - Seventh Grade
For those who prepare our food and those who keep us safe - Eighth Grade
For peer leaders, advisors, and coaches - Ninth Grade
For St. Paul’s, our partner school in Haiti - Tenth Grade
For veterans and all who serve in the armed forces - Eleventh Grade
For our families, college counselors and sleep - Twelfth Grade
For students, colleagues, and flexibility - Faculty & Staff

Wishing the entire SSSAS community a Happy Thanksgiving!
