A good book is the best of friends, the same today and forever. - Martin Tupper

The Upper School Library program works in direct coordination with departments, classes, and individuals to provide instruction on effectively using and evaluating library resources and to offer materials that are current and appropriate to the curriculum.

Additionally, the library provides introductory instruction for all students on basic library use and research skills. Providing resources for and encouraging pleasure reading outside of classroom related assignments are also stressed.

The Wills Upper School Library provides a warm, comfortable atmosphere and is a popular spot for students to study and relax before and after school and during their free time. The floor-to-ceiling windowed rotunda is a bright focal point of the library, housing the fiction and biography sections and featuring upholstered reading chairs as well as work tables. The library’s collection can be searched from numerous computer stations located throughout the library and an attached computer lab provides 14 computers, a printer, and a photocopier for student use.

Summer Reading

In the Upper School, summer reading requirements differentiate based on the subject and grade level. Some courses require summer reading for only AP or Honors courses. Each student receives their summer reading packet during the school year, which includes details on the books chosen and the assignments to accomplish upon completion of the book(s).
