As part of our leadership-building program, we nurture a longstanding Kindergarten Buddy program that fosters mentorship, cooperation, and camaraderie through reading and doing fun projects together. A favorite highlight is writing, designing, directing, and performing a play just for their K buddies.

Each day fifth graders help with morning carpool, opening doors, greeting families, and walking our youngest Saints to class. They are learning valuable skills and providing leadership as responsible citizens.

At SSSAS magic is more than just an art—it’s a unique way to teach creativity, leadership, and the joy of giving back. Fifth graders dive into the world of magic, learning not only the tricks but also how to perform with confidence and heart. They put on professional-style shows for audiences at places like the Child and Family Network Centers, spreading smiles and inspiration.

Our Middle Schoolers have the opportunity to participate in the Student Council Association. Those involved have the opportunity to plan spirit and theme days, dances, fun tournaments, and other community events.  These student leaders are true representatives of their classmates, sharing with teachers and administrators ideas, concerns, and other issues important to the Middle School community. 

Admissions Ambassadors partner with the admission office to represent the school’s student body both internally and externally. Students go through a training process, and assist our admissions office by leading tours, speaking on student panels and webinars, and helping to coordinate and greet families during open house admissions’ events, shadow days, and revisit days. Students learn communication skills while building meaningful connections between prospective students and their families. 

SAINTS SQUADS offers grade 8 students leadership opportunities as they organize activities for their grade 6 and 7 peers throughout the school year.

There is a vibrant Student Council Association (SCA) that includes both all-school leadership in the form of an Executive Board led by two co-presidents, a vice-president, and a secretary-treasurer, as well as grade-level positions, including co-presidents, co-vice presidents, arts council members, and athletic council members. SCA is responsible for running Morning Meetings, a weekly time for announcements and red vs. green games, facilitating spirit weeks, pep rallies, both the Homecoming Dance and the Winter Formal, as well as running fun events through the year like Fun Friday, the annual candy cane and easter egg hunts, all-school ping pong tournaments, and decorating the hallways for holidays and celebrations. SCA members also serve as an important bridge between students, faculty, and administration, and are encouraged to share their concerns and advocate for their peers. When needed, they run forums to allow for student voices and opinions to be processed and heard as well. 

Students who serve on the Honor and Disciplinary Board (HDB) assist in making disciplinary recommendations for Honor Code and school rule violations. These students are nominated by their classmates, vetted by faculty members, and then interviewed by current members of the HDB. Once there is a final list of nominees, they are elected in an Upper School wide election.

Peer Leaders are seniors who are nominated by their peers and faculty in spring of their junior year.  Once selected they go through intensive training in group leadership skills and are matched into co-leader pairs that work with 9th grade advisories during freshman orientation and the first few months of school. Peer Leaders are a diverse group of students who come from different backgrounds and interests. They are students who reach out to others and support them, are warm, are open and honest, have good organizational and leadership skills, are good role models, have a sense of humor, are enthusiastic, are resilient, show great maturity, and are compassionate and understanding.  Peer Leaders represent the student body through positive leadership by example of their attitudes and actions, and are often leaders in other aspects of school life as well.

The Vestry is made up of about 16 juniors and seniors that are interested in being part of the school’s worship and faith formation. These students help the chaplains lead worship, and also give the student perspective on how to build up our school’s faith and Episcopal identity (though they need not be Episcopalian).  The Vestry meets with the chaplains monthly for lunch to deepen their own faith and to plan for upcoming worship and other religious events.
