The Association of Parents and Teachers

The 2020-2021 school year will be unlike previous years, but we will still be a strong Saints community. The SSSAS Association of Parents and Teachers plans to meet virtually and perhaps in person once volunteers are back on campus. Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings and may find the details in the online school calendar. Please check it regularly for the most up-to-date information. Altough many of the traditional events put on by parent volunteers will be different this year, we look forward to working with SSSAS and our parent community to provide programming and be a resource that supports our parents and teachers alike.

Welcome to the APT!

WHO WE ARE
The APT exists to support and enhance the school community through a strong and responsive parent/teacher structure and inclusive and community based organization of events. It’s comprised of all parents/guardians of enrolled students, teachers, administrators, and school staff. The head of school represents our teachers and staff and is a voting member of the APT Executive Board.

HOW YOU CAN VOLUNTEER
There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer and get involved — from helping support and organize a specific event to taking a shift with Steve & Aggies or with Fall or Spring Festival, to serving on a committee or joining our Board. Your time and talents would be greatly appreciated and are highly valued, no matter what time commitment you can give. Volunteering is a wonderful way to support our students, faculty, and staff, as well as meet other Saints families and increasing the sense of all-inclusive Saints community.

WHAT WE DO
We invite you to explore our many programs and events, including our Shopping Program, the Fall Family Festival, Teacher Appreciation Days (in fall and spring), Spring Festival, and our exciting fundraiser, the Annual Spring Party and Auction. The APT organizes a Welcome event in September and promotes class-level parent socials in the weekly APT section of the SSSAS Dispatch. Every other year we offer a Speaker Series.

HOW WE DO IT
We couldn't offer all we do without the volunteer support of parents, faculty, and staff, and the financial sponsorship of our families. We ask all families to voluntarily pay APT dues of $50. To see how the funds are used to support our teachers and students.

The APT Allocations

Due to the current COVID-19 interruption to the school year, the APT did not receive the customary list of specific school and teacher requests. The unexpected school closure significantly impacted the revenue generated by the APT, affecting the amount of money we have to allocate for school gifts. It has been determined that the APT can provide $75,000 to the school this year, based on the assumption that the APT will have no additional revenue during the upcoming school year. Additional money is being held to provide a gift at the end of the 2020-2021 school year, even if no additional revenue is generated by APT activities. Because we were given no specific requests to review, it was decided to split the available funds into gifts to two funds, the Head’s Discretionary Fund and The Saints Fund. Both funds were discussed as they relate to and support the APT Mission. Based on historical gifts made to the Head’s Discretionary Fund by the APT, it was decided that $5,000 was a reasonable and appropriate gift for the year, and that the remaining $70,000 will be a gift to the The Saints Fund.
