The Association of Parents and Teachers

The SSSAS Association of Parents and Teachers meets once a month and all are welcome!  We will begin the year meeting via zoom and then resume in person meetings later into the calendar year.  All meetings will be available via zoom to any parent or guardian who wants to participate.  The details for our meetings can be found in the online school calendar. Please check it regularly for the most up-to-date information. Although many of the traditional events put on by parent volunteers will be different this year, we look forward to working with SSSAS and our parent community to provide programming and be a resource that supports our parents and teachers alike.

Welcome to the APT!

The APT exists to support and enhance the school community through a strong parent/teacher connection and an inclusive approach to community based events. It’s comprised of all parents/guardians of enrolled students, teachers, administrators, and school staff. The head of school represents our teachers and staff and is a voting member of the APT Executive Board.

There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer and get involved — from helping support and organize a specific event to taking a shift with Steve & Aggies or helping with Spring Festival, to serving on a committee or joining our Board. Your time and talents would be greatly appreciated and are highly valued, no matter what time commitment you can give. Volunteering is a wonderful way to support our students, faculty, and staff, as well as meet other Saints families and increasing the sense of an all-inclusive Saints community.

We invite you to explore our many programs and events, including our Shopping Program, the Fall Welcome Back Party, Teacher Appreciation Days (in fall and spring), and our Spring Festival. The APT organizes a Welcome event in September and promotes class-level parent socials and monthly coffees in the weekly APT section of the SSSAS Dispatch.

We couldn't offer all we do without the volunteer support of parents, faculty, and staff, and the financial sponsorship of our families. We ask all families to pay APT dues of $50.  This year, the APT is partnering with the school to collect our dues through the Smart Tuition platform.  More information (including opt out information) will be coming shortly.

The APT Allocations

The Association of Parents and Teachers took advantage of the unusual circumstances in the pandemic to told several new community wide events, but did not focus on fundraising in 2020-2021 or hold its annual spring party and auction. The APT Board still felt it was a priority to allocate funds to SSSAS in support of our faculty and staff through the Joan Ogilvy Holden Summer Fellowships Fund; a fund the APT established in 2012 that the APT has funded regularly since its inception. This fund provides for faculty professional development: travel to seminars, field experiences, and other enrichment opportunities. In our final meeting of the 2020-2021 school year, the APT Board voted to use a portion of remaining current year funds and a portion from savings to award $20,000 to the Joan Ogilvy Holden Summer Fellowships Fund.
