Our junior kindergarten program is designed for children turning four years old by September 1.

Our daughter had a fantastic JK year. The program not only laid the foundation for her long-term academic success, but also broadened her horizons with great field trips, guest speakers, and special programs. She developed a passion for art and design, in which she previously showed little interest. We are delighted that she participated in so many community outreach programs that are a major emphasis at SSSAS. Finally, the JK teachers are amazing! They keep the children fully engaged and communicate frequently and effectively. We could not recommend the program more highly.

Laying the Foundation

At St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School, junior kindergarten is an intimate and unique year in which the students are celebrated for all they bring with them on this exciting journey into education. Our program is designed to develop independent and confident critical thinkers and problem-solvers who progress at their own pace through their learned skills, as well as through the engagement of their innate capabilities and interests. Our experienced and dedicated teachers strive to make their students feel comfortable and safe so they will take risks in their learning and realize that not getting something right the first time is a positive part of the process. They encourage their curiosity and introduce them to the infinite possibilities for wonder and discovery, and the joy of a lifelong desire to learn!

Our junior kindergarten students thrive in a welcoming environment in which they develop a strong sense of self and discover who they are as an individual, as a member of their class, and as a contributing citizen of the larger community — a special place where they feel safe, valued and respected. Our mission is to lay a foundation that inspires a passion for learning, exploring, reflecting, and growing.
