The Application Process Is In Your Hands

And we are here to support you through the process every step of the way. How?
We use an online Parent Portal and a series of email communications that will guide you through the process.
Choose the appropriate drop-down below to view each of the steps according to the grade to which you are applying. The very first step is to complete an Inquiry or attend an event! Either of these steps gets you into our system.

Return to your Parent Portal to Access an Applicant Checklist (after an application is submitted).

Complete an Application today!

Complete an Online Application (which includes a $75 fee) to get access to your Parent Portal with a personalized admission checklist where you may self-schedule an interview, submit transcripts, request recommendations, and more. Please submit your application by January 15, 2025. After this date, call the Lower School Admission Office at 703-212-2705 for more information.

Schedule a Virtual Info Session

Attend an Online Info Session to begin learning about our welcoming school community and the Early Years Program at St. Stephen's and St. Agnes. This event includes opportunities for questions about the school.

Book a Campus Tour 

You may choose a Wednesday tour throughout the fall.  Families may self-schedule campus tours using the link below. If you need assistance booking your Campus Tour, email, or call the Admission Office at 703-212-2705.

Schedule A Parent Interview

After submitting an application, you may schedule a Parent Interview with a member of the Lower School Admission Office. It is best practice to schedule your interview to occur after you have attended an Info Session and completed a Campus Tour. You may self-schedule an interview through your Parent Portal, by email, or by calling 703-212-2705. Interviews can be conducted on campus or virtually. Self-schedule a Parent Interview via your application checklist available after submitting an Application.

Get Started on Support Documents!

Submit Support Documents and other Application Materials such as Teacher or Childcare Provider Evaluation and Release of Records forms which are available in your Parent Portal account. We recommend submitting both forms to your school in December, to ensure they are received by our office by January 15, 2025. 

Complete a Student Achievement Assessment

Students applying to Early Saints (age 3), junior kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade are required to complete an on-campus school visit on January 11, 2025. For those who have a completed application on file, parents will be contacted through email with information about the school visit and achievement assessment and their child's time slot based on grade level.

Register for a Middle School Information Webinar

Attend an Online Info Session to begin learning about our Middle School community and ask questions about the school. Oct 16 | Dec 12 | Jan 9

Register for the Nov 11 Middle School Open House

While not required, attending an event is a great way to begin learning about our Middle School school community. We offer a range of options that provide families the opportunity to engage with the Saints community - students, faculty, and administrators. Join us for one event or for all - just be sure to join us! If you need assistance booking a visit, you may email, or call the Admission Office at 703-212-2706.

Schedule a Shadow Day after Submitting an Application

This is an optional step that may be scheduled after an application is submitted. Your student will experience a day as a Middle School student as they move through a half-day of classes, including lunch, alongside a current Saint. 

Schedule an Interview Via the Parent Portal

After you have submitted an Application, you may self-schedule a Student and Parent Interview with a member of the Middle School Admission Office. 

Complete an Admission Assessment

To apply to our Middle School (grades 6-8), students are required to complete an admission test as part of their application. Applicants should meet the January 31, 2025 deadline for submitting their test results regardless of the chosen option. Applicants must choose from one of these two assessment options:

1. Standardized Testing: You may choose to have your student take one of the following tests: 

  • SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). Our code is 6238
  • ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam). Our code is 470040

2. St. Stephen’s St. Agnes School's Math and Writing Assessment:

  • You may schedule and have your student complete a 60-minute Math and Writing Assessment administered at our school.
    • Assessment dates are  Oct 5 |  Nov 9  |  Dec 7  | Jan 11 

NOTE: You must schedule your student's test and submit the results by January 31, 2025.

Book a Campus Tour

While not required, visiting campus for a tour is a great first step in getting to know SSSAS better. Your tour will be led by a student ambassador who can answer many of your questions about student life. If you need assistance booking a visit, you may email, or call the Admission Office at 703-212-2706.

Register for Oct. 20 Open House

Attending this event is strongly encouraged. Our Open House offers an on-campus, interactive experience that provides families the opportunity to engage with the Saints community - students, parents, faculty, and administrators. 

Register for Nov. 17 STEM Open House

Calling all aspiring engineers, mathematicians, scientists, programmers, and robotics geeks! This is the event for you if you want to learn more about our signature STEM certificate, tour our new state-of-the-art science rooms, or get your hands on one of our award-winning robots!

Schedule an Interview

After you have submitted an Application, you may self-schedule a Student and Parent Interview with a member of the Upper School Admission Office. 

Complete an Admission Assessment

Upper School applicants (grades 9-11) are required to complete an admission test as part of their application. Applicants must choose from one of these two assessment options:

1. Standardized Testing: You may choose to have your student take one of the following tests: 

  • SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). Our code is 6238
  • ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam). Our code is 470040
  • ERB (Educational Records Bureau) test scores from the same year you are applying for submitted by the sending school are acceptable for students applying to grade 9
  • PSAT (Preliminary SAT) for students applying to grades 10-11

2. St. Stephen’s St. Agnes School's Math and Writing Assessment:

  • You may schedule and have your student complete a 60-minute Math and Writing Assessment administered at our school.
    • Assessment dates are  Oct 5 | Nov 9 |  Dec. 7 |  Jan. 11 

NOTE: You must schedule your student's test and submit the results by January 31, 2025. As always, please contact the Admission Office at 703-212-2706 if you have any questions or need assistance. 

Schedule a Shadow Day Visit 

After submitting an application, student applicants are encouraged to schedule a Shadow Day visit via the Application Checklist in the Parent Portal. It is one of the most impactful ways to explore our Upper School. Prospective students shadow current Upper School students for a half-day of classes, including lunch. 

Submit Your Support Documents!

  • English Teacher Evaluation Form
  • Math Teacher Evaluation Form
  • Release of Records Form and Transcript (past year and current year)
  • Applicant Writing Prompt

We recommend submitting evaluation forms to your school in early December to ensure they are received by our office by January 15, 2025.  


General Planning Timeline

We welcome your interest at any time of the year and you are encouraged to inquire at any point in your search. We understand each family has a unique timeline and circumstances related to their school search. Our friendly Admission staff is accessible all year long to assist you wherever you are in the search process.

The priority application deadline for the 2025-2026 school year is January 15, 2025. For applications received after January 15, please call the Admission office at 703-212-2705. Here is the link to return to the application checklist in the parent portal.

Start a New Application

Here’s a look at the general timeline.

  • Jun-Dec: Make an inquiry or Visit Campus by registering for a tour, info session, open house, or a shadow day visit.
  • Sep-Jan: Complete a new Application to get access to your personalized checklist to schedule a shadow day visit, to schedule an interview, and to submit supporting documents (transcripts and recommendations). Applications are due January 15 in order to guarantee an admission decision on March 7, 2025. For applications received after January 15, 2025 the Admission Office will work closely with families to expedite the process and complete all steps of the application as soon as possible. Second-round decisions will be made as space allows. 
  • Sep-Dec: Schedule an Interview through your application checklist after completing an application
  • Sep-Nov: Register for an academic assessment based on the grade to which your child is applying.
    • Middle and Upper School (grades 6-11), students are required to complete an admission test as part of their application. Applicants must choose one assessment option below - either a standardized test or SSSAS Math and Writing Assessment.

1. Standardized Testing: You may choose to have your student take one of the following tests. Please note that you are responsible for scheduling directly with the test provider.

  • SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). Our school code is 6238
  • ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam). Our school code is 470040
  • ERB (Educational Records Bureau) test scores from the year for which you are applying submitted by the sending school are acceptable for students applying to grades 6-9
  • PSAT (Preliminary SAT) for students applying to grades 10-11

2. St. Stephen’s St. Agnes School's Math and Writing Assessment:

  • You may schedule and have your student complete a 60-minute Math and Writing Assessment administered at our school. The SSSAS assessment may be scheduled through the application checklist. Assessment dates are  Oct 5 | Nov 9 |  Dec. 7 |  Jan. 11 
  • Dec-Jan 15: Complete support documents such as transcripts, teacher recommendations, and test results to guarantee an admission decision on March 7, 2025. For applications completed after January 15, 2025 the Admission Office will work closely with families to expedite the process and complete all steps of the application as soon as possible. Second-round decisions will be made as space allows. 
  • Jan-Feb: Wrap up campus visits and testing. Test results must be submitted by Jan 31, 2025.
  • Feb 1: Optional Financial Assistance forms are due.
  • Mar: Decisions are mailed; deposits are made.
  • Apr: Revisit campus to meet and celebrate with some of your new classmates.
  • May-Jun: End your current school year strong!
