Gut-Wrenching Loss For the Girls 2nd (JV) Soccer@Georgetown Visition

Coach Rodney Jones
The Ladies of the 2nd Team suffered defeat on the pitch at Georgetown Visitation.
In the heart of our Nation's Capital, Coach Jen Desautels stood at the helm of the Lady's 2nd Team while Coach Rodney looked on from afar, as he served his one match ban for his red card infraction in the previous match.  In the first half, the Fighting Saints stayed on the front foot, putting heavy pressure on the Visi defense and keeper while playing their best half of futball all season.  At the half, the match was all square - 0-0.

In the second half, Visi opened their ledger in the 40th minute on a well executed strike from outside the penalty area.  But not to be denied and kept off the ledger, Sarah Spalding smashed the equalizer over the head and out-stretched hands of the Visi keeper from more than 35-yards away.  The match wouldn't stay square for long, as the Home side would mark another tally in their ledger, sneaking a second ball by Saint's Keeper Catie Peorsch.  The Home side would put marks on the ledger twice more, first on a corner kick from the left side and then a sneaky shot in traffic that found the back of the Saint's net.

First and foremost, a huge "Big Up" to Coach Jen for stepping in and managing the 2nd Team side.  The score sheet for the fixture does not reflect the care and focus she put into managing and coaching the side.    Two big shout outs go to visiting eighth graders Lindsay Parsont and Healey Cross.  These ladies joined the team at the beginning of the week and stepped on to the practice pitch and the field of play and showed just how amazing they are.  They made immediate contributions in their first match after moving up.

The Lady's of the 2nd Team will step on the pitch on Saturday in the Seminary Hill Cup seeking redemption and to help SSSAS keep "The Cup" in the hallowed halls of the Upper School.
