Meet Aron: Twelfth Grade

A Saint Since Third Grade

Q&A with Aron

List of 8 items.

  • Describe an academic assignment you have particularly enjoyed this year.

One of my personal favorite assignments in the Upper School would definitely be from my senior year Film Studies class when I had to make a short film. A short film is basically a motion picture that is a few minutes long and normally sends a message or is a precursor to a movie or many other things. My group’s short film was about a man who was being stalked by another version of himself.
  • Tell us about a leadership role you have held at SSSAS.

I have experienced a few leadership opportunities but one that stands out is being the captain of the football team my senior year. Our whole idea going into the year was to change the culture of the program basically meaning to win a lot this year so that the future has a standard to live up to and surpass. We definitely did that.
  • Tell us about your athletic experiences as a Saint.

I have played basketball, lacrosse, football, track, and weightlifting. I have liked all of my athletic experiences for different reasons but I have especially liked weightlifting because Coach Johnson is one of my favorite faculty members and took his time teaching me the mechanics of weightlifting. Also, I love the good feeling that I have after a competition.

Sports taught me that at the end of the day the most important thing about high school sports is bonding with your teammates because I already cannot remember a single record from any of my teams but I do have memories from each team that will last forever.
  • Are you in a club at SSSAS?

While at SSSAS I have been a member of The Olympic Weightlifting Club. I loved the sport and it taught me about pushing myself. Whether it be to lift a heavier weight or to perfect my technique I was always pushing myself.
  • What have you learned about yourself through trying something new?

SSSAS has taught me that my favorite thing ever to do is to act. I learned that this year by auditioning and landing a role in the annual school musical for the first time and I have been thankful for that experience ever since.
  • What is your favorite subject?

It is definitely hard to choose one but I would go with math because I have loved all of the teachers that I’ve had over the years. Overall, I have learned that I can handle any amount of work in any amount of time.

  • What service-learning project have you enjoyed?

I’d say that our school’s first JK-12 service-learning project (or Saints Mission Day) opened my eyes to how much our lower schoolers look up to the high school students considering that we merge all three campuses to carry out the project. In addition, that project was inspiring because William Kamkwamba spoke to us personally about building a windmill that would benefit his whole town as a young boy yet we were all struggling to make one out of straws. I think it really made us realize how blessed we are and it was also amazing to hear from someone whose story is now a Netflix film.
  • Where will you be going to college next year?

I will complete a year at the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School and then move on the United States Naval Academy Class of 2024.

SSSAS is special because the small community gives you a chance to explore and try anything that you want. Everything at SSSAS is of high quality. I know I would not have had these opportunities at this quality at any other school.
