Happy Valentine’s Day! Tell us about how you met at SSSAS?
We met in the eighth grade, when Michael came to SSSAS. (Alex had been there since the fourth grade.) We immediately became friends once we found out we are both San Francisco Giants fans!
How do you two reminisce about the school now almost 10 years later?
We are still very close friends with many of our SSSAS classmates. Michael even lived with some of them during and after college. So, with our long-time friends, we reminisce about good times at the school, including Michael’s days playing soccer and basketball and Alex’s time playing piano for the jazz band.
What were your first impressions of each other when you first met at SSSAS?
Aside from the initial Giants connection, we don’t remember much else about our first impressions of each other!
What have each of you most enjoyed about being part of the SSSAS community?
We’ve really enjoyed continuing to grow with our friends and their families. Since high school, we've gone to college, traveled, interned, grieved, and celebrated alongside our SSSAS classmates. We're grateful for the community that we have truly grown up in. And we’ve been able to maintain our Saints spirit through Alex’s younger brother, Jack, who will graduate in June!
What have you both been up to more recently? What's next?
We were married in November of 2021 in a small ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Alex has been working in broadcast journalism and dance. Most recently, she was the Supreme Court reporter and producer for the PBS NewsHour. Michael has been working in commercial real estate and sports education.
Together, we’re off on a huge adventure in 2022. We’re first moving to Lisbon - to be closer to Alex’s family - and then The Netherlands, where Michael will study archeology at the University of Leiden and Alex will continue working in journalism and the arts.
