The JV Saints survived a scare from Bullis, squeaking out a narrow victory in three sets 25-22, 23-25, 16-14. The Saints helped themselves from the service line with 19 aces, led by six from junior libero Libby Sterba, five from junior outside hitter Laetitia Haddad, four by freshman setter Iman Haddad and two aces from freshman Nellie Hartell. BUT, the team nearly sabotaged itself by missing 16 serves for the match. Luckily junior middle blocker Karlee Whetstone led the offense with six kills. Libby and Laetitia each contributed three kills. Sophomore middle blocker Adrienne Lai, junior outside hitter Latrice Jenkins and Nellie chipped in with two kills a piece. Iman added a kill and so did junior Jessica Lopez. Iman (6) and fellow freshman setter Kennedy Johnson (4) led the team in assists. Libby was again the back row star with seven digs while sophomore Lena Weiman added two digs on defense. The Saints are in action next at Episcopal on Saturday morning as they help chase the Seminary Hill Cup.
